Commentary…
Wow! What a week. To those not in the know, I bid a farewell to my first blog - HomeOfficeVoice. The comments were all touching and I stand honored before you here.
This week also saw me kick it up a notch here at ePublishingDaily.com, finally…
What surprised me a little was the support I recieved both publicly and privately to this blog. This speaks volumes and says to me: there is a strong market and demand for professionally produced eBooks … Yay, I’ve found myself a niche and I’m here for the long haul.
Finally, a special thanks to John from Syntagma Media and his Writers Blog Alliance who were quick (and the first) to give this blog a push along. Thanks John.

It’s a pleasure, Martin. I’m glad to see it’s going so well. :-0

Cheers, John - having the time of my life focusing on this industry. I’m learning and meeting new people in the industry every day.
Should have made the move sooner. :-)

Martin, there’s a PageRank update underway. You may just have caught the tide on the flood. I had to wait four months for the 5s we’re getting across SynMed (except Syntagma: 4). Good luck.

John … all part of the master plan ;-) Yeah right … if it happens I’m laughing all the way- if not, I’m crying in my soup :-)
Personally, I don’t really like PageRank, but I know it’s a measure that’s used by the vast majority to quickly evaluate a site - a popularity contest.
Also, I think 0-10 is too short in range for real value - if it was something like 0-100 well then that could be a better indicator.
In my old incarnation (HomeOfficeVoice) that dealt with home business, I saw sites getting more page rank than say Entrepreneur.com or some other top-class sites.

Martin, you jammy dodger, Future Page Rank is showing a PR of 5 for EPD (www. version). Wow, that’s so quick, it’s greased lightening. I’ve had to wait 4 months for my 5s.
Good luck anyway, you deserve it. All systems go now!

John … as I said, all part of the master… :-) pr5, really!
Hey, I’m not complaining - don’t know how or what I did to get that - maybe an eBook in the making: “How I turned my 2 week old Blog into a PR5 ” ;-)

Hey Martin. It’s great to see you have already settled into your new home.
As for the PageRank update, I wouldn’t take it too seriously. What Google shows you, in the way of green goodness on the Toolbar, is already a fait accompli and very likely well out of date. Google maintains the true PageRank internally. Consider the green line to be informational as a very rough guideline to your growth of incoming links. It’s not an accurate guage that’s carved in stone at all.

Hi Wayne … thanks for dropping in and checking up on me:-)
Yeah, I’ve never taken PageRank seriously - maybe in the early days like many I spetn way too much time at seo forums trying to master PR.
The only use for Page Rank for me is when I’m dealing with potential sponsors/advertisers - it’s a good selling point to have a PR5+. Other than that, I don’t neccessarily chase PR but just let it fall where it may.

Pro bloggers and advertisers don’t take you seriously until you’ve got a green line up there. Also it improves your position on the search page, so, if you’re really into Adsense, it helps a lot. I got turned down last week for Text Link Ads. Now I’ve got 5s across the board, I stand a very good chance.

Hi John … my point proven :-) everytime I deal with potential advertisers PageRank is one of the first things to come up.
It’s almost like I can add a premium of say 20% if I have a PR6, a premium of 40% for a PR7 and the holy grail: PR8 & 9 - 100% easily.
Good luck on getting into Text Link Ads - lets us know how it turns out and if it’s worthwhile.
