It’s August 1st and That Means it’s … Blogging Tipping Day

Easton Ellsworth over at BusinessBlogWire (a Know More Media blog) started the tradition of Blog Tipping.
Blog Tipping is held on the 1st of every month and it’s easy to get invovled. Simply highlight three other blogs with three compliments each and one tip.
And so away we go with my three picks …
Brian Clark’s CopyBlogger
Currently my favourite blog by a long-shot, when Brian writes you read and take it in. Damn this guy’s full of quality stuff. Can this guy do no wrong? I’ve just spent a good three hours over the weekend pouring over some of his previous posts - Brian: let me publish an eBook of all your posts and you can give/sell it to your growing fan base.
- Beautiful, clean blog design with cool looking graphics that compliments the writing.
- Keeps to his focus: “how to sell with blogs, email, and rss” and that’s it.
- He knows how to write a headline or three - you know Brian, I’ve got most of your headlines in a swipe file.
Tip: It’s time you started developing, creating and selling an information product to help bloggers make the move into product blogging. You’ve got the cred now do it!

Liz Strauss at Successful Blog
In internet time, Liz has been a long time blog friend. She eventually settled in at b5media after an event-filled journey where she has now gone from strength to strength. Always offering my favorite sidebar dish - nachos, Liz knows how to build community. Don’t believe me? Then head on over to her weekly Tuesday Mic Nights where servers explode and comments go into the hundreds.
- Creative ideas are her forte and she never fails to deliver.
- Her writing makes you stop and think.
- She comes from a publishing/editorial background and knows her stuff.
Tip: You too should get out an eBook - sorry, an inside joke :-). The real tip: you won’t listen to moi: give me half an hour with your css file and I’ll polish up your blog to the best of my non-designers background ability.

Blogging Pro
David (I don’t know your last name) has long been for me a great resource for blogging news - primarily WordPress goodies. It’s the place I get all the tips on new themes and plugins. If he focused only on WordPress and nothing else it would be an absolute awesome site and an even bigger hit with me and many others I’m sure.
- Keeps the news coming, day-in, day-out … shows great dedication.
- Just the right sized posts - tells the story and moves on.
- Has the right mix of news and opinion within most posts. That’s the kind of blog I like: reporting with an added opinion.
Tip: Personally, I reckon you’d grow massive if you focused only on WordPress. Imagine: a one-stop place on the Web for all the news on WordPress - themes, plugins, hacks, tips …

And that’s it for another month of Blog Tipping folks … I hope you enjoyed.

According to my wife, I do plenty of wrong. :)
Pssst… here’s a secret. Copyblogger *is* a book. The question remains as to how I’ll fill in the gaps and what direction it will take.

Nice job, Martin. I’d say ya done tipped ‘em good :).
I love this monthly phenomenon for many reasons. Right now I’m just impressed by how easily I can get to know new quality blogs - or old ones, but they seem new to me - through this method.
It’s been too long, Martin. How is everything over here at ePD?

Thanks Easton,
Old/new blogs - doesn’t matter, it’s a great way to make some comments and suggestions.
I’m hoping you’ll gather all those who partictated in one post as I’d like to see what’s new out there and what folks are offering up in compliments and tips.
You must feel good, seeing it’s all because of you … this blog tipping thing.
ePubDaily is going great guns for me, thanks for asking.
I’ve had my head down over recent times writing like a madman. Lots of stuff coming out very shortly.
as they say … watch this space :-)
I’m assuming KMM is still kicking butt in your niche?

Brian,
According to my wife - ditto here as well. Funny how it’s so common us mere males go through the world over ;-)
It IS a book … but online.
the reader/customer are our masters and if they demand it, then you must obey - be it eBook, audio, video, home study course, teleseminar …
Why not do a survey at CBlogger asking your readers how’d they like their information packaged and how much (and if they are) willing to pay for it.
Then send the results off to me ;-)
Of course when you do decide on a direction, I’ll be the first in the know. As Char would say: Get it. Good.

Martin, glad to hear you’re doing well here. We’re doing well at KMM too.
You said, “I’m hoping you’ll gather all those who participated in one post as I’d like to see what’s new out there and what folks are offering up in compliments and tips.” I’m on it!

Easton,
As I expected you’re onto it.
I’d have expected nothing less from you.
I guess I better head on over to KMM tomorrow and spend an hour or two to see what’s happening over there.

Hi Martin,
Thank you. I’d never thought about doing an eBook. Do you think that I have enough stuff to make one? :)
You can play with my CSS file if you want to. I’ve done some of your tweaks, but I don’t think you’ve seen them. Mostly it’s a matter of not having time and needing to work on other things.
This blogtipping post is one of the best that I’ve read so far since blogtipping started. Thanks again. I’ll leave the nachos right over here. :)

Hey Liz … I’m blushing that you think this is the BEST blogtipping post EVER … hear that people - Liz knows what she talks about. :-)
Modesty was never my strong suit. ;-)

I never say things like that unless I mean them. This is the Internet after all. They could come back to haunt me. :)
