Did You Know …

… that 91% of US online consumers have a PayPal account, with another 4% planning to open one in the next 12 months.
Further, only 1% of online consumers don’t know what PayPal is.
Just one word: Wow!

VERY intresting!
It’s funny b/c I launched a product within a pretty small market once and had like 200 or so people in the first day contact me saying “Do you offer anything other than paypal?”.
Turns out b/c of the market I was going after turned out to be heavily made up by countries not in paypals reach…
BUT, then have had other launches where not a single person has ever asked for anything besides paypal.
I wonder what the breakdown among different demo/pshycho/techno graphics is?
Anywase, like the new blog, this was the first time I got to check it out!

Hi Dave … welcome to my new home :-)
I’m glad you like it - and I hope you’ll visit and comment (shout me down if I say something stupid) and spread the word.
Strange cause I think PayPal is available in 56 countries - of course, how many countries are there in total: 160 or so I think.
The breakdown? Who Knows. The survey comes from eMarketer (they’re very reputable) but annoyingly you need a subscription to gain access - I guess I’ll have to see if eMarketer will let me in :-)

One key question is who uses their PayPal? I have one, but have never actually used it. And at this stage of the game, with all the phishing and security concerns and random emails that may or may not be from paypal admin, I’m pretty surely never going to use it again. If I ever have to use one, I would create a new one.

Hi Duane … thanks for dropping in and commenting.
I have used my PayPal account hundreds of times and have never had a problem - actually this last hour I sold a domain name to somebody via PayPal.
I guess I’ll have to get in touch with PayPal to get further number breakdown - how many use their accounts etc.,
About the phishing/email concerns, it’s simple: never click on a link to get to PayPal. Simply type it into your browser.
