Create a PDF with OpenOffice for Free

by Martin Neumann on June 26, 2006

logo_ooo.jpgIf you are a user of OpenOffice (the free alternative to MS Office) then did you know that you can create pdf documents directly from the program?

The process is simple: File > Export as PDF … and then follow the simple prompts.

Now I’m no OpenOffice user or expert - I’m blessed to have the full and current version of MS Office pre-installed on my PC.

But for those using OpenOffice this can be a great time saver where you don’t have to obtain third-party add-ons to get PDF functionality - it’s been made a central part of the program.

From the OpenOffice Blog comes Think PDF and Links! OpenOffice.org Might Be Your One-Stop Shop for Documents You Distribute

A great plus …

In OpenOffice.org 2.0, the links you make in OpenOffice.org transfer over to and work in the PDF.

Note: Adobe (those behind PDF have been in a war of words with Microsoft lately) where it would seem that the inclusion of pdf functionality in the next Office release has hit a snag. But that’s another post where I’ll be having my strong say on this issue.

    Martin,
You are the best at finding things. I think you are the King of Research. Where did you find this? I just moved it into my toolkit.
    Cool.

    Hey Liz,
I’m a research junkie. Also helps when I research in only one niche.
