On the issue of DRM:
I am definitely not a fan of DRM. I don’t want to buy a copy of a book that is tied to a device. I don’t want to have to buy a separate electronic copy of a paper book I am reading.
The article goes into depth on the upcoming release (April ‘06) of the eReader, iLiad (from iRex Technologies). Once again, no pricing is given for the device but the review is quite positive.
Once again, E-Ink is discussed:
E-Ink looks set to make some waves over the next year or so, and I’ve got my eye on it!

Together with Sony Reader, two new eBook readers will be released this coming April.
They are: iRex’s Iliad and Jinke’s Hanlin.
The sales pitch from iRex:
Digital written content can now be read as easily and conveniently as the printed word on paper. The iRex Technologies E-reader provides true reading comfort, flexibility and versatility. It can be read outdoors, in sunshine or shadow. As well as reading you can also write comments, mark or underline sections, for a true two-way paper experience. And all of this at the lowest power consumption.
The Jinke pitch:
The worldwide launch of their Hanlin eBook V series, which features an electronic paper display from E Ink Corporation … The V series Hanlin eBook offers easy operation, low power consumption and a unique design of double displays, with all the benefits of an electronic paper display and a weight of 290g. The main display, which utilizes E Ink® Imaging Film, is 6 inches diagonal and supports 4-levels of grayscale. The smaller LCD slave display integrates a touchscreen to support editing and marking.
